How To Create Your First IGTV VIDEO for Instagram

If you’re wondering whether or not you should create your first IGTV video or unsure of where to even begin, this article will help you gain clarity on what to do.

Recently, Instagram came out with a new feature for it’s users to use as a way to create content that would ultimately create more engagement and keep the social conversations on Instagram.

It’s another way for small business owners to become visible, discovered, and in front of their ideal client. And the best part is that it’s all on ONE platform?

IGTV Videos are a great resource for your ideal client when done right.

In this article, I have three tips to creating your first IGTV Video that will get you and your business in front of your dream clients!

  1. CONTENT

Know what type of content your ideal client wants to watch you go in depth about. What you share on IGTV VIDEO should be of value and teach your followers something they could benefit from. It must be captivating and it must be a topic that is intriguing enough for your ideal client to want to watch. So be sure to do your market research. Know SPECIFICALLY WHO your dream client is and once you understand what they need and how to speak to them, then you can start to create!

2. PREP

Once you’ve decided the type of content topic you’re going to speak about, be sure you have a plan of what you’re going to say before you create your video. You want to make sure that you know exactly what your objective is and what it is you want your ideal client to walk away with after they watch your video. Be sure to have clear key points that you want to hit and tips that your ideal client can start taking action on. In addition to prepping what you’re going to say, you want to make sure that before you record your video (whether it be from your cell phone or DSLR) there must be good lighting. You don’t have to have a fancy background or the most updated tools, to execute your first IGTV VIDEO, but you want to make sure that the camera is still and that there is proper lighting on you.

3. CREATE

Now that you know what you’re going to say, the location is well lit, and the camera is in a good position, you can start to CREATE! Be sure to smile, showcase your personality, and to speak with clarity and enthusiasm. Remember, that you ARE highlighting your authority by creating this video and making an impact in providing value in your ideal client’s life or business. Be proud of yourself and feel good knowing that someone is going to walk away benefiting from your content!

4. EDIT

Now that you’ve created and recorded your first video, editing is going to make your IGTV Video that much more appealing to watch. Whether you choose to edit your video in Adobe or Videoshop, it’s important to find a program that can edit and add the following things in your video: captions (subtitles), headlines, and cut scenes. I highly recommend using the Videoshop App to edit your videos, especially if they are coming straight from your cellphone. It’s the perfect tool for you to upload straight to IGTV. You can also use the same video from your YOUTUBE channel as well to upload on IGTV. You’ll also want to make sure that your video is 10 minutes or under as that’s the maximum amount of time that Instagram will allow your video to be.

5. SHARE IT!

Now that your video is complete, it’s time to share! You can upload it directly to Instagram with a caption that is captivating and searchable enough for your dream clients to discover your content! I recommend adding #hashtags to the comments once you’ve uploaded it AND you can also upload pieces of your video to your stories as a way to drive people to watch the entire video. BONUS** You can also directly link your video in each of your stories for people to “swipe up” and watch the entire video. This is a feature that is allowed even for those of us who have less than 10K followers! And be excited to get DISCOVERED!

You can also embed your IGTV video to your website as well or in an email funnel!

Sharing your video is going to be key to getting in front of your ideal client and to showcase your expertise in your industry!
